Villa Stuart Private Clinic

Urogynecology

Urogenital prolapse and urinary incontinence are two very common problems that can significantly reduce the quality of life of affected women. The enormous progress made in the fields of pathophysiology and surgical techniques over the past 20 years has meant that today these conditions are easily and permanently resolved in most cases thanks to minimally invasive procedures and extremely short hospital and recovery times; all with the utmost satisfaction of patients, provided we know how to offer the most appropriate treatment for each situation.

At Villa Stuart Nursing Home we are at the forefront in this area because we offer a complete service from diagnostic framing to medical and surgical treatment. Surgical therapy in particular represents our flagship because we can rely on specialists in the field with years of experience capable of offering each patient all the most technologically advanced solutions and personalized treatment. The proposed surgeries for urogenital prolapse include laparoscopic colposacropexy, the prince procedure for this pathology for which Prof. Ercoli and Dr. Soreca are the operators with the largest case histories in Italy, or classic vaginal surgeries either with the use of synthetic prostheses or traditional fascial reconstruction techniques. For both types of surgery there is a postoperative stay in the clinic of 1-2 days.

As for urinary incontinence, on the other hand, we propose both the procedures currently considered the best in the treatment of this condition such as Trans Obturator T ape (TOT) and Trans Vaginal Tape (TVT) and simpler procedures such astransurethral injection of inert volumizing agents. All these procedures are performed under local anesthesia or light sedation under one-day surgery and without the use of a bladder catheter as standard.

CLINICAL INSTRUMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS

Careful collection of the medical history and a thorough gynecological examination are the first approach to diagnosing endometriosis.
Being able to highlight the painful areas with a careful objective examination is critical to the suspicion of this condition. The imaging techniques commonly employed for the diagnosis of endometriotic disease are ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Laparoscopy, in view of the fact that the diagnosis of endometriosis must be supported by histological confirmation, is considered the “gold standard” for the diagnosis of this pathology.

Over the years, endometriosis has been the subject of several attempts at therapeutic treatments such as ovarian suppression, surgical treatment, or a combination of these therapies. The rationale for current treatment options is to inhibit the growth of endometriotic ectopic implants through the detection of a hypoestrogenic state.
Laparoscopy is now unanimously considered the surgical approach of choice for the treatment of endometriotic disease, both with regard to ovarian disease (endometrioma) and the restoration of normal anatomy.
The team consists of physicians with high specialization in gynecologic endoscopic surgery, urologic surgery, and general surgery.
