Gynecological Surgery

Gynecological surgery is the branch of surgery that deals with the surgical treatment of pathologies affecting the female reproductive and adnexal system.

It uses the following techniques:

  • Laparoscopy: uses small incisions on the abdomen to insert a camera and surgical instruments.
  • Vaginal surgery: inserts the necessary instruments for the procedure through the vagina
  • Hysteroscopy: the hysteroscope is inserted through the cervix to examine and treat the inside of the uterus
  • Laparotomy (traditional, open surgery): uses an incision on the abdomen to open the operative field
