Yeldos Smetov, Olympic judo champion in the -60 kg category, underwent surgery on both shoulders at the Villa Stuart Healthcare Facility in Rome.
The operation, performed by Dr. Enrico Ceccarelli, a specialist in shoulder and humerus diagnosis and surgery, was necessary to resolve painful conditions that were limiting the Kazakh judoka’s competitive activity.
After two nights of hospitalization, Smetov returned home, with a follow-up appointment scheduled at Villa Stuart to continue the active phase of the recovery process.
