Genitourinary infections and functional disorders
After years of clinical experience, the diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary tract inflammations/infections (acute and chronic prostatitis, bacterial and non-bacterial, chronic and recurrent cystitis, chronic pelvic pain syndromes) are addressed using both traditional and innovative methods in light of new literature guidelines.
For proper assessment, the Urology department employs:
- Specific questionnaires for various urinary disorders
- Ultrasound examinations
- Uroflowmetry
- Invasive urodynamics (with and without electromyography)
- Basic culture tests (urine culture, sperm culture, urethral swabs)
- Specific tests (Meares-Stamey test, catheter urine collection)
- Cystoscopic examinations
On the therapeutic level, in addition to traditional pharmacological methods, personalized pelvic floor rehabilitation plans are available for:
- Chronic pelvic pain management
- Premature ejaculation
- Erectile dysfunction
- Urinary incontinence
Additionally, intravesical pharmacotherapy is performed using hyaluronic acid and agents that strengthen the bladder’s mucosal integrity, including the administration of botulinum toxin for controlling neurogenic and idiopathic overactive bladder conditions.
