What is a biopsy
Breast biopsy is a diagnostic examination, performed under local anesthesia with tomosynthesis guidance, which consists of the removal, via a needle, of a tissue sample from a lesion or suspicious area of the breast. The purpose of the examination is to establish the nature of potentially suspicious nodules or microcalcifications, detected with breast diagnostic examinations
Vertical biopsy with AMULET SOPHINITY
In the vertical biopsy system, the needle for biopsy sampling descends perpendicularly to the breast compression plane, ensuring greater trajectory stability and more accurate control of insertion depth.
With tomosynthesis-guided biopsy:
- Lesion centered with greater accuracy;

- Better confirmation of correct positioning at the sampling site;
- Increased probability of hitting the target on the first attempt with reduction of non-diagnostic samples;

FEATURES
- Operating panel with real-time monitoring: the healthcare operator views in real time on the monitor all data related to breast thickness, the breast diagram with the coordinates of the sampling area, and information on the selected needle, including diameter and sampling window opening. ;
- 3D tomosynthesis guidance: the Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) system, through the acquisition of multiple images at different angles, generates a layered reconstruction of the breast parenchyma that allows very precise localization of lesions, even of microcalcifications and poorly visible nodules. ;
- High image quality: the high-resolution direct detector plays a crucial role in diagnosis since many initial lesions are extremely small. The 50 μm detector, in which each pixel measures approximately 0.05 mm, ensures a greater ability to see very fine details, including microcalcifications that may have dimensions smaller than a millimeter;
- Optimization of radiation dose: the AEC system adjusts the X-ray dose based on breast type, personalizing it according to the characteristics of the examined breast, in line with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles;
- Greater perceived comfort and greater precision during sampling: the more comfortable positioning for the patient, with the reduction of abdominal pressure during the examination, allows not only greater comfort for the patient but above all greater precision in the execution of the sampling;
- Advanced digital platform with AI: the digital platform, integrated with artificial intelligence-based tools, is designed to support healthcare professionals in all phases of the examination, from patient positioning, to precise evaluation of the sampling site based on previously acquired images, to execution of the sampling based on breast characteristics, to radiography of the biopsy sample to immediately verify the correct removal of tissue;
