Endocrinology

Endocrinology is the branch of medicine that studies the endocrine system and includes the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to hormonal disorders and endocrine gland dysfunction.

The endocrine system consists of endocrine glands and their secretions, hormones. The main endocrine glands are:

CT scan: imaging for endocrine gland details and evaluation of possible abnormalities
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): visualization of highly detailed images of endocrine glands, especially in suspected neoplasms
Ultrasound-guided fine-needle thyroid aspiration: minimally invasive diagnostic method that allows extraction of cell samples from the nodule for cytological examination to exclude or confirm the presence of a neoplasm
