ORTHOPEDIC SPINE SURGERY
Spinal surgery is a specialized branch of orthopedic surgery that provides surgical solutions to treat different diseases and conditions affecting the spine.
COMMON TECHNIQUES

Microdiscectomy/Discectomy:
Removal of the portion of herniated intervertebral disc compressing the nerves. -
Laminectomy:
Removal of part of the posterior arch of a vertebra (lamina) to relieve pressure on the spinal cord. -
Laminoplasty:
Opening part of the posterior arch of multiple vertebrae (laminae) to widen the lumen of the spinal canal. -
Arthrodesis (Spinal fusion):
Fixation of two or more vertebrae, often using implants such as screws and rods or bone grafts, to stabilize unstable segments. -
Vertebroplasty/Cyphoplasty:
Percutaneous procedures involving the insertion of a balloon to restore vertebral height, before injecting cement, for vertebral fractures due to osteoporosis.
