Lateral Lumbar Fusion (XLIF - eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion)

Lateral lumbar fusion (XLIF) is a minimally invasive surgical technique whose advantage is treating the pathology while preserving as much as possible the surrounding vital tissues (muscles, tendons, vessels, and nerves), thus offering faster recovery and less trauma compared to traditional approaches.

ACCESS

Lateral access through a 3-4 cm incision on the side that can be performed at both lumbar and thoracic levels, creating a direct channel to the affected vertebrae without cutting the paravertebral muscles

  • Possibility of removing the degenerated disc and decompressing the spinal canal's nerve structures through precise lateral access
