The term lumbago refers to acute lower back pain that causes intense pain at the base of the spine, which can sometimes extend to the buttocks and thigh, resulting in loss of mobility, essentially leaving one “immobilized“. This sensation is due to the presence of muscle contraction, resulting in the inability to perform even the smallest and most basic movements.
