Prof. Stefano Margaritora

Specialist in Thoracic Surgery

Prof. Stefano Margaritora graduated in 1985 in Medicine and Surgery from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, and subsequently attended a general thoracic surgery internship at the University of Michigan (1988). In 1990, he specialized in General Surgery at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome and in 1995, in General Thoracic Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

From 1998 to 2004, he was a Level I Manager at the Complex Operative Unit of Thoracic Surgery at the Institute of Surgical Pathology of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome;

from 2007 to 2011, he was Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Oncology of the Catholic University of Campobasso;

From 2011 to 2013, he was Head of the General Thoracic Surgery Department at the Florence Oncology Center;

From 2012 to 2017, he was Head of the Cosmos II Project for the early diagnosis of lung cancer at the Florence Oncology Center;

From 2015 to 2023, he was Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Oncology of the Catholic University of Campobasso

From 2016 to 2023, he was Director of the Complex Operative Unit of Thoracic Surgery at the “Agostino Gemelli” University Hospital in Rome;

From 2018 to 2022, he was Director of the School of Specialization in Thoracic Surgery

Since 2023, he has been a University Professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

Member of the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery, the Italian Society of Surgery, the European Society of Thoracic Surgery, the European Association of Thoracic Surgery, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (USA)

He practices privately at the Villa Stuart Private Clinic in Rome
