Specialist in otorhinolaryngology

Born in Tradate (VA) on 10/06/1963, he obtained his scientific high school diploma in 1982. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery on 10/27/1988 from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a score of 110/110 cum laude. Regularly licensed to practice, he won the competition for admission to the School of Specialization in Otolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and was awarded a four-year scholarship under Law 388/89, having ranked first in the merit list. He obtained his specialization in Otolaryngology on 12/14/1992 with a score of 70/70 cum laude. During the Specialization Course, he attended the First Otolaryngology Clinic of the University of Rome “La Sapienza.”

In December 1992, he won the national competition for qualifications and exams for a position as a technical collaborator at the Chair of Otolaryngology Clinic at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” holding this position from October 1993 to October 1998.

In November 1998, having won the national competition for qualifications and exams for a researcher in the disciplinary sector F15B (Audiology and Phoniatrics) at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” he began his service with this qualification. In 2001, he was confirmed in the role (MED 32 – Audiology and Phoniatrics).

In March 2006, he obtained eligibility for the role of Associate Professor, disciplinary sector MED 32 (Audiology and Phoniatrics).

In December 2006, he was appointed as an unconfirmed Associate Professor, disciplinary sector MED 32 (Audiology and Phoniatrics) by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” starting his service in January 2007. After being confirmed in the role of Associate in 2010, he applied for a transfer from the scientific disciplinary sector MED 32 to MED 31 (Otolaryngology). This transfer, considering the teaching and scientific activities carried out up to that point, was authorized by a national commission. He currently holds the position of confirmed Associate Professor in sector MED 31 (Otolaryngology).

From 2009 to 2015, he was the holder of the Audiology course in the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery. From 2015 to 2020, he was co-holder of the Otolaryngology course in the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Since 2016, he has been the holder of the Otolaryngology course at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University “Nostra Signora del Buon Consiglio” in Tirana.

Since November 2016, he has been the Director of the School of Specialization in Otolaryngology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

He obtained the National Scientific Qualification pursuant to art. 16 of Law no. 240 of 2010 in the year 2012-2013 for the competition sector 06/F3 – Audiology First Band.

He obtained the National Scientific Qualification pursuant to art. 16 of Law no. 240 of 2010 in the year 2016-2017 for the competition sector 06/F3 – Otolaryngology First Band.

He has undertaken numerous and extended periods of study and specialization at qualified national and international institutions. Among the latter, in particular, at the ENT department of the “Gregorio Maranon” General Oncological Hospital in Madrid, directed by Prof. M. F. Vega, the ENT department of the “Saint Charles” Hospital (University of Montpellier), directed by Prof. B. Guerrier, the Otolaryngology service of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, directed by Prof. Pedro Quesada Marin, and the plastic and reconstructive surgery service of the “Elysee Montagne” clinic in Paris, under the guidance of Prof. G. Aiach. During these stays, he had the opportunity to specialize in the surgery of inflammatory and neoplastic ear diseases, phonosurgery, cervico-facial oncological surgery, and functional surgery of the nasal-paranasal district.

He has attended numerous national and international congresses, participating on multiple occasions as a speaker (often by invitation). He is also the author of numerous publications (over 150) in full, a significant part of which are in international journals with an impact factor.

He has performed over 5,000 surgical operations, most of them as the primary operator, with particular focus on surgery of the nasal-paranasal district, otosurgery, pharyngo-laryngeal surgery, cervico-facial oncological surgery, and salivary gland surgery.
