Prof. Nucera, born in Nettuno on April 17, 1957, graduated from the “Catholic University of the Sacred Heart” in Rome with a degree in Medicine and Surgery on November 4, 1982, achieving a score of 110/110 with honors.
- In 1985 she obtained her Specialization in Allergology from “La Sapienza” University of Rome, with a score of 70/70 with honors.
- In 1989 she obtained her Specialization in Phthisiology and Respiratory Diseases from the “Catholic University of the Sacred Heart”, with a score of 50/50 with honors.
- From January 15 to February 15, 1985 she was a guest at the Institute of Clinical Immunology at the “Inselspital” University of Bern (Switzerland). During this period, she deepened her knowledge of penicillin allergy diagnostics (measurement of specific anti-penicilloyl IgE; RAST inhibition).
- From 1989 to 1994 she worked as a specialist physician in Allergology at Local Health Units RM/21, RM/29, and FR/4.
- From 1982 to 1996 she attended the Allergology Service at the “Catholic University of the Sacred Heart” in Rome (as a “visiting physician”), performing both clinical and research duties; particular focus was given to food and drug allergies and conditions affecting respiratory function (bronchial asthma, rhinitis).
- From July 1996 to 2000 she was appointed as an external consultant.
- From July 2000 to 2006 she was appointed as a contract physician with clinical duties at the ALLERGOLOGY SERVICE within the Department of INTERNAL MEDICINE, SPECIALTY SCIENCES AND DERMATOLOGY at Gemelli Hospital – Catholic University of Rome.
- Since 2004 she has been a professor of Allergology at the “Catholic University of the Sacred Heart” in Rome.
- Since 2006 University Researcher at the INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL MEDICINE AND GERIATRICS at Gemelli Hospital – Catholic University with clinical duties as First Level Medical Director pursuant to art. 102 of D.P.R. 382/1980 at the ALLERGOLOGY DIVISION within the Department of INTERNAL MEDICINE, SPECIALTY SCIENCES AND DERMATOLOGY at Gemelli Hospital – Catholic University of Rome.
- From November 2018 to April 30, 2024 Director of the Allergology Service within the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS

Dr. Nucera’s clinical allergology practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of hymenoptera venom allergy, drug allergies, latex allergy, food allergies, nickel allergy, and the prevention of nasal polyposis recurrence.
Dr. Nucera’s scientific activity has resulted in over 250 scientific publications in Italian and English, the writing of 4 book chapters, and the authorship of 2 allergology books:
