Dr. Daniela Andreina Terribile graduated in Medicine and Surgery with top honors on November 2, 1981, at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, where she also obtained a Specialization Diploma in Oncology in 1984.
In July 1990, she obtained a Specialization Diploma in General Surgery at the University of Ancona. She has conducted numerous clinical research and advanced training periods at centers of excellence such as the Institute Contre le Cancer Paoli-Calmettes in Marseille (France), Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia (USA), Georgetown University in Washington DC (USA), and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York (USA).
For over 30 years, she has dedicated herself exclusively to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer, particularly focusing on the treatment of locally advanced forms and the development of conservative breast cancer surgery, with special attention to oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery techniques.
From January 2014 to December 2015, she was the Head of the Breast Surgery Unit at the Geneva University Hospital.
From 2017 to 2023, she was the Head of the Simple Unit (UOS) “Management of High-Risk Young Patients” affiliated with the Breast Surgery Unit of the Women’s Health Department (Director Prof. G. Scambia).
Until 2023, she was a Level I Manager and Deputy Director of the Integrated Breast Center at the A. Gemelli University Hospital Foundation in Rome. Additionally, from 2010 to 2013, she was the Head of the Simple Unit (UOS) of “Integrated Breast Cancer Therapy” affiliated with the Breast Surgery Unit of the Department for the Protection of Women, the Unborn Child, Children, and Adolescents (Director Prof. G. Scambia).
She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the main National Scientific Societies in the field of Senology and the main Associations/Non-Profits dedicated to the fight against breast cancer: Member of the Board of Directors of ANISC, where she was Vice President of the Board of Directors in the years 2006-2010 / 2010-2014 / 2014-2018 / 2020-22 / 2023-24; Member of the Board of Directors of AIFET in the years 2021-23 / 2024-26; National Coordination Member of GISMa in the years 2012-2014; Member of the Board of Directors of SIS, where she was Treasurer in the years 2007-2010; Member of the Board of Directors of Europa Donna-Italian Forum in the years 2005-08 and 2008-11; Member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of Europa Donna in the years 2017-20 / 2020-23 / 2023-26; Member of the Board of Directors of Susan G. Komen Italia in the years 2006-2009 / 2009-2013 / 2013-2016 / 2016-19 / 2019-22; President of Susan G. Komen Italia in the years 2022-25.
She has also participated in the development of internal and national diagnostic-therapeutic guidelines, the establishment of dedicated pathways for women with breast cancer (Corporate and Regional PDTA), integrated pathways for women at high risk due to hereditary breast cancer with the drafting of regional and national reference documents, and the creation of a dedicated clinic for managing these patients at the Gemelli Breast Center.
She has been and continues to be involved in projects and courses related to quality indicators of breast surgery treatment; optimization of breast surgery; training for healthcare professionals in mammography screening at the national and regional levels (Lazio/Piedmont/Emilia Romagna).
Within the context of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, she has been involved in tutoring and training students and residents of the First Level University Masters (Operating Room Instrumentation, Breast Nurse, Integrated Oncology Therapies), and she is also a thesis advisor and co-advisor for Bachelor’s, Specialization, and Master’s theses in the surgical and senological fields at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. Since 2016, she has been the scientific coordinator of the First Level University Master’s in “Breast Nurse” at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.
Since her appointment as a Researcher, she has been assigned teaching responsibilities at the Specialization Schools of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome in General Surgery (Senology), Senology, Thoracic Surgery, Radiotherapy – Oncological Surgery.
She is an Associate Professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector of General Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.
Since 2023, she has been a Technical Consultant at the Breast Unit of Fatebenefratelli Isola Tiberina – Gemelli Isola.
She conducts her private practice at the Villa Stuart Private Clinic in Rome.
