Born in Rome on 09/30/60. He obtained his classical high school diploma in 1979 from the Roman high school “T.Tasso”. On October 29, 1986, he graduated with honors (110 cum laude) in medicine and surgery from the University of Rome La Sapienza, discussing an experimental thesis on spinal deformities in patients with infantile cerebral palsy.
On November 27, 1991, he obtained his specialist diploma in orthopedics and traumatology with a grade of 70/70 from the same University, discussing the following thesis: “Flat Foot: Baropodometric Evaluation”.
From 1987 to 1999, he worked at the Pro Juventute Don Carlo Gnocchi Center in Rome, where he primarily dealt with spinal pathology and surgery, pediatric orthopedics, and rehabilitative medicine; under the guidance, until 1994, of the late Prof. Giorgio Monticelli.
Since 1987, he has been a member of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology; since 1989, of the Italian Society of Spinal Surgery – Italian Scoliosis Group; since 1998, he has been a member of the Lazio Association of Hospital Orthopedic Traumatologists.
In 1991, he attended the microsurgery specialization course at the University of Brescia taught by Prof. Giorgio Brunelli. In the academic year 1993-94, he was appointed to teach Emergency Medicine and Road Traumatology at the Higher Institute of Physical Education in L’Aquila, a position he held until the academic year 1998-99. From the academic year 1999-2000 to 2001-2002, he taught kinesiology and functional rehabilitation at the same ISEF.
From April 1992 to December 1995, he worked as an outpatient specialist physician (S.U.M.A.I.) at the U.L.S.S. Rm 11, Rm B, Vt 4. From October 1994 to December 1999, he was a member of the Superior Medical Commission of the Ministry of Treasury. From March to May 1996, he served as a full-time hospital assistant with a fixed-term contract at Velletri Hospital U.L.S. Rm H.
From 03/29/1997 to 11/30/1999, he served as a first-level medical director, full-time, with a fixed-term appointment at the orthopedics department of S.S. Gonfalone Hospital in Monterotondo.
From 12/01/1999 to 04/16/2000, he served as a competition winner with the qualification of permanent first-level medical director at A.S.L. RM/F in the orthopedics operative unit of Bracciano Civil Hospital. From 04/17/2000 to 02/15/2001, he served as a permanent first-level medical director at the orthopedics department of Monterotondo Hospital.
From 02/16/2001 to present, he has been serving as a permanent medical director at the complex organizational unit of orthopedics and traumatology at Santo Spirito In Sassia Hospital in Rome – ASL RM 1, with a highly specialized assignment in spinal surgery and spinal dysmorphisms, dealing with spinal surgery and pathology including oncological aspects, traumatology, orthopedic surgery of upper and lower limbs, prosthetic surgery, and surgical treatment of pediatric foot deformities.
From May to August 2004, he attended the Texas Back Institute in Plano – Dallas, Texas, USA, by invitation. He has published numerous scientific papers in national and international journals and has participated as a speaker at numerous conferences, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in March 2006.
Since 2001, he has been conducting outpatient and surgical activities at Villa Stuart Nursing Home in Rome, dealing with spinal surgery and pathology, treatment of scoliosis and dysmorphisms of the locomotor system in growing subjects, treatment of osteoporosis, treatment of degenerative orthopedic pathologies, prosthetic surgery, and traumatology.
