Just days before Germany’s debut at Euro 2016, Antonio Rüdiger was forced to leave the national team training camp due to an injury sustained during a training session, following a collision with teammate Thomas Müller.
Upon returning to Rome for examinations, the Giallorossi defender underwent diagnostic tests at Villa Stuart Clinic, which confirmed a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee in his right leg.
On Saturday morning, Rüdiger was operated on at Villa Stuart by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani. The procedure was completely successful and his return to the field is expected between late October and early November.
The Roma staff hopes that the defender can follow the example of Francesco Totti, who returned to play in just 127 days after undergoing ligament surgery in 2008, also performed by Professor Mariani at Villa Stuart Clinic.
