PATHOLOGIES

Treats pathologies that may impair the functionality of the spine, such as:

ORTHOPEDIC SPINE SURGERY

Spinal surgery is a specialized branch of orthopedic surgery that provides surgical solutions to treat different diseases and conditions affecting the spine.

COMMON TECHNIQUES
  • Microdiscectomy/Discectomy:
    Removal of the portion of herniated intervertebral disc compressing the nerves.
  • Laminectomy:
    Removal of part of the posterior arch of a vertebra (lamina) to relieve pressure on the spinal cord.
  • Laminoplasty:
    Opening part of the posterior arch of multiple vertebrae (laminae) to widen the lumen of the spinal canal.
  • Arthrodesis (Spinal fusion):
    Fixation of two or more vertebrae, often using implants such as screws and rods or bone grafts, to stabilize unstable segments.
  • Vertebroplasty/Cyphoplasty:
    Percutaneous procedures involving the insertion of a balloon to restore vertebral height, before injecting cement, for vertebral fractures due to osteoporosis.
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery:
    Interventions to decompress, stabilize and correct spinal pathologies through smaller incisions or percutaneous techniques, causing less damage to muscles and speeding up recovery time.
  • Robotic Surgery:
    Robotic technology provides surgeons with assistance in complex surgeries, allowing them to improve precision in the placement of synthetic media and implants.
Minimally invasive and robotic techniques aim to reduce surgical trauma, postoperative pain, and recovery time, allowing patients to return to their activities more quickly.
